Israeli Martial Arts

Anyone have any good excuse?

So I take Krav Maga is the Israeli martial art. It is very hard there sometimes. Unfortunately, one of my teachers become my ex and if they are trained together he basically beats the shit out of me. He is ten years older than me (not ask) and has plenty of experience so that they can barely defend myself, but we take our frustrations on others at the table for ... Of course, wins every time. I do this weekend and then drive all the way to college during the week. First, my friends know I'm not taking these lessons and do my parents. I like to keep it this way. Secondly, I apologize for of all strokes. I can only say "bumped" so many times before starting to sound like a battered wife or something. So I need to apologize. Anyone is good?

You do not need excuses. It's your life. Why did you discuss with your ex is something I do not understand. If you do not want to, tell us why your instructor. If it's something that makes you feel better, then continue. Tell people the truth. Not even have to bring the former history.

Children should learn Mixed Martial Arts?

Introduction to their children in extracurricular activities to help them become well-rounded individual. Apart from basketball or boxing, another sport that can be tested is mixed martial arts.

What is mixed martial arts? It is a combination of various techniques martial arts including jujitsu karate, judo, tae kwon do and several others. As each one takes time to learn, your child will learn the basics of one before others to pass.

But why mixed martial arts events? This is the physical health, as activity increases not only your child but also mental. Although intense, sweat coming to reducing the risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease and even obesity.

Older kids will think twice the intimidation and they know how to defend themselves when threatened. It will also be more confident and more assertive after completing a few sessions.

Training in mixed martial arts your child violent? The answer is no, because most studies have shown that starting fights at school are usually those who have no discipline, no training and no self-esteem. This is his way of seeking attention, but there are other ways to get it.

Studies have shown mixed martial arts learning has a profound impact on children suffering from ADD and ADHD, and that helps them stay focus on a task after doing something several times that in the long run will help them later in life, as it helps control the symptoms of these disorders.

Before enrolling your child in a mixed martial arts program, doing research for control of the various gyms or dojo that offer this service to children.

You may be surprised to know that there is a class called Krav Maga, an Israeli combat system developed that teaches you to flee from an attacker and then running away from what he can get the help that has helped save lives.

In any case, you should also see a few classes and talk with instructors. If you satisfied with the way you respond to your questions, take your child more because many will allow your child to join an introductory class at no additional charge.

If your child likes, then it's time to register. Note that some gyms will charge you for the next 6 months. Since your child will enjoy at this time and change your mind in the future, see if you can pay for this on a monthly basis.

But not all children like mixed martial arts as an activity recreation. If this is the case, try to find something else that is what they are able to find something that is good for their overall psychological and emotional wellness.

Mixed martial arts like any other sport can help develop your child. They become more responsible, more mature and less likely to engage in violence, to grow and become decent members of society. So give it a shot and see if he or she likes. They do not have to compete if you want, but as to give it a try later only support them.

An excellent approach to Martial Arts books!

by Mr. D Krause from on 2009-12-01
It's been a long time since I last trained in any martial arts and I started looking for a style that suits me. My background had been in Kyokushinkai karate and Yoshinkan Aikido- that style being one of the harder styles of Aikido. I did not attain high ranks in either. I purchasd this book because I had come across Kapap in my research into taking up a new martial arts style with fitness and self-defence in mind.Being middle-aged, and 'only' 5 ft 6 in in height means that the martial arts styles I tend to gravitate towards are those that don't rely on sheer power and are more intuitive. This book puts ticks in both boxes and does so admirably. On moving to Brisbane, I will have the option of choosing to learn either Kapap or Commando Krav Maga (CKM)- or both. What I absolutely loved about this book is that it recommends incoporating Kapap concepts into your own style, and vice versa. There is no need to be worried about crossing over in such styles and concepts- if the synergy works then use it. And if it works, continue to improve on it. That has been my general approach to my career- so I well understand the power that a ground shift in thinking applied to action this can provide. In this book, there are plenty of exercises to help practitioners break through the stress of combat and not let cognitive dissonance or self-doubt rule them. The focus is on the threat so the techniques in this will help your mental preparation prior to when you may need it most. The book has a number of sections which examine what Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners would do if faced with the same situation. I does not take a 'holier than thou' approach- but highlights that there are differences. Some specific techniques are similar to Shaolin Chin-Na techniques in books written by Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ma (?)- but much less esoteric in the delivery. I'm not saying that Dr. Yang's techniques don't work- I'm just saying that they can be performed with less finesse. The DVD set is also very good- but I do appreciate this book. It's not a large book by any means, but a powerful approach to how we should all train. And for that, I cannot fault this book.

Not suitable for most.

by John Jakob from on 2009-01-16
This book is written for the gunhappy and if you want to walk around armed to the teeth for the eventuality then this is for you. There are some unarmed combat techniques but I am afraid the focus is mostly on guns. I grew up in a very rough part of the world dubiously called the"murder capital of the world" and can save you money by letting you know that if someone knows you have a gun, chances are you are bigger threat for them and hence a target.Guns are not easy to hide- read the sas books or the krav maga books which teach you how to survive attacks. Most books and this one included assume you are allone- what if you are with you family and you cant shoot in case your family gets caught in cross fire?Save your money and go on a practical course where all aspects are taught to you and yours e.g travelling in groups or allone, paying bribes to officials, how do you find help in a foreign place without the language? This book is for the gun happy

Not terribly relevant except in a fantasy world.

by a reader from Illinois from on 2008-08-01
This is a mildly interesting book about the methods the author uses to keep himself safe in the Holy Land. You will not learn much that is of practical value in the USA. I'm not even sure I believe that he goes always armed with several pistols and knives. If you follow his recommendations you would find yourself under arrest for a variety of felonies in most US jurisdictions. Other than those caveats, it's a decent book!

Worst Case Scenario

by Lodge2 from Texas on 2007-06-17
Sockut covers a wide range of subjects; mind-set, "cold" weapons, "hot" weapons, vehicle defense, home defense, riots, etc... Although not applicable to most situations in the U.S., it does give insight into a worst case scenario. Many of the case studies involve settlers in the occupied territories as well as Unit 101 and the Israeli Paratrooper Brigade covering the exploits of Ariel Sharon, Schlomo Baum and Eugene Sockut.Although written in 1995, it could use an update to cover events since 9/11. My impression is the updated version would start with the phrase; As I way saying earlier..."Great book on how to survive in a civilian war zone for those interested in survival, self-defense, conflict in the Middle East, Israli history, etc...

Book pulls no punches

by E. OZ from Chutz L'aretz on 2007-05-25
I found this book extremely informative. Illustrations, personal stories and philosophy of self defense all make up this great book. This book hands down is one of the most informative books. The author doesn't come across arrogant or a know it all. However he does give over information that can save a persons life. From how to survive a riot to how to respond to a mugging it covers it all. The book draws from experience in Israel and shows you how you can implement those same life saving techniques where ever you find yourself. As I said before the book covers philosophy, mind set of a survivor all the way to what weapons to use. I recommend this book to everyone serious about self defense and street survival.

Outdated.

Outdated. Poor quality typical of paladin press. If you really want to learn combat, attend one of those gun camps run by ex-operators. Better than Army training!
