10 minute Solution

by stg from on 2010-08-22
I am enjoying using the video. It's fun to work out to and quite effective!

Great introduction for beginners

by Catmandu from Atlanta, GA on 2010-08-17
I had a couple of kickboxing segments in some other 10 min solutions DVDs, but they just threw you into it and didn't explain how to do the exercises properly. Kelli did a great job of pointing out how to get the maximum results from the exercises without losing pace. She's easy to follow and this workout had me panting and sweating like crazy. I did this workout 4-5 times a week for three weeks before starting P90X. When I'm done with my 90 days of X I'm definitely going to use this DVD in my long term exerise program.

good workouts

by victoria from on 2010-07-15
This was a good buy and I'd recommend it to people who are looking to add another quick 10min workout to their normal routine. It's definitely something that I pop in after my normal workout dvds when I feel like I have the energy (or that I've eaten too much lately!). It is just the perfect amount of time too, the 10 min, because it is a hard workout and really gets my heart pumping. My only word of caution is that I feel like about half of these workouts are for people with a pretty high fitness level so I feel relegated to using about 3 of the 5 workouts, but for the price it was still worth it.

Great workout

by Ty's Mom from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 2010-07-14
I absolutely love kickboxing and was hooked on Tae Bo, but cannot find it on DVD. With the new age of DVD players and VHS players outdated an no longer working, I had to find something else. I tried this and absolutely loved it. I worked up a sweat in the first 10 minutes and kept going from there. It is fast paced and easy to follow.

Good Technique

by Leigh Cheri from Broken Arrow, OK on 2010-07-10
I have been doing kickboxing for 4 years now and I found this video has improved my form. There's one section where she has you throw punches with weights that has gotten negative feedback from other reviewers. You don't have anything to worry about if you know how to properly throw a punch. In fact, your form will improve if you give it a try. I wouldn't recommend this video for beginners but if you are like me, then you'll have a blast with this one! There are roundhouse kicks with a hop, some innovative ab work that feels incredible, and birthies. No that's not a typo. Kelli is English and you know how they have cute words for everything (apartment=flat, cigarette=fag) in America we refer to them as squat thrusts. She does variations of them incorporating knee push ups (I just went ahead and did them on my toes) leg lifts and football runs. There's a lot of variety in this workout, and if you do the whole 50 minutes it will definitely be worth your time, but even one or two 10 minute segments would be a boon as well.

Too easy!

by K. Brewer from New York, NY on 2010-06-03
I bought this because of FITNESS magazine's recommendation: The magazine claims that it would burn 700 calories for the workout. Not so. I probably burned 50. I was looking for a DVD that gave me a little more cardio, and thought this might do the trick. I didnt even break a sweat!I am extremely dissapointed in how easy the DVD is. There is nothing exciting or challenging about it!If you are a TRUE beginner, this may be for you, but I wouldnt recommend it to anyone with even a moderate amount of physical activity. How can FITNESS Magazine call this one of the Top 10 DVD's out there?

The more you do it, the better it gets

by Renee Krajcik from North Smithfield, RI on 2010-04-07
I was looking for a workout DVD that would really get my heart pumping. I found this online as one of the top-rated DVD workouts for burning calories, so I decided to try it. I've never done kickboxing before, but I had no trouble learning the moves. Keli is great and definitely not annoying, like some other DVD fitness instructors. But after the first time I did it, I wasn't very tired at all. I didn't feel like I had gotten the great workout that the review I read had promised, and I was a bit disappointed. However, the more I did it, and the better I became at executing the moves, the more I started to sweat. Once you learn to do the moves correctly and really put your all into it, you'll feel the burn and get a great workout. But it's really up to you to keep practicing the moves and challenge yourself by punching and kicking harder, rather than just going throught the motions. And after doing this workout 4-5 times a week for the past month, my butt and thighs look great! :)I would definitely recommend it.

DO THIS YOU WILL LOVE IT.

by M. Daniels from on 2010-02-19
This is bar none the best workout DVD I've ever bought. Keli cues you really well and even if you do it daily (like I do!) she doesn't get boring. The workout is INTENSE but it works wonderfully. You really feel it in all your muscles. Plus, it's an awesome stress reliever. I do it every day JUST for that reason alone. It really helps break out all the accumulated tension throughout the day. It's so easy and really enjoyable and really gets your heart pumping! I HIGHLY recommend this DVD!

For Dummies, I think not...

by Ashley from on 2009-11-14
Ok I am not an avid exerciser, but I am active. I saw this DVD as one of the best workout dvds, so I decided to purchase it. I receive and it is so hard to do. The tutorial even goes fast. I can say that this is not a dvd for beginners, dummies, or anyone that does have stamina for an extremely long, high endurance workout. It will take me months to get through one work out. The dvd is very fast paced and hard to keep up with...UGH wasted money!

Fun workout

by Tea from new york, New York United States on 2009-10-19
I'd say this was a fun workout. It's a good change if you want to mix up your workouts a bit, but I didn't find it as tiring as a typical workout for some reason, and I'm a kickboxing novice. I certainly don't think I burned 700 calories, as one of the reviewers suggested they were burning. As a beginner I found the rapid moves a little challenging and required concentration, but it's easy to catch on if you stick with it.

Description

Cardio Kick Box is a high-energy aerobic workout designed to keep you moving and boost your fat-burning capabilities while at the same time giving your muscles a day off from wither-training. Jillian recommends doing Cardio Kick Box once a week, in the middle of the week, to break up your regular exercise program. this program is to get out there and have some fun, and keep your body moving.

If you're envying the six-pack abs on Jillian Michaels, trainer from NBC's The Biggest Loser and self-proclaimed "TV's toughest fitness guru," look no further than her Shape-Up Backside exercise DVD for an intense high-impact workout. Michaels keeps your body moving (though she herself skips out on half the exercises) with hammer curls, oblique raises, step ups, planks, and a move called The Superman destined to tone your back, biceps glutes, hamstrings and abs. There's a lower-level option, but Michaels likes to "kick your butt," as she says, to get you to feel the burn. Shape-Up Backside's DVD features include printable diet/exercise logs, nutrition tips and recipes. It requires two props: a bench-style exercise step and light dumbbells, which may make it difficult for beginners. But if you give it a try, even in the comfort of your living room you'll think you're in a gym -- trainer yelling in your ear and all. -- Ellen A. Kim

good overall workout

by Feles31 from Honolulu, HI United States on 2010-09-02
I would say I am at an intermediate level of fitness. This workout made me work up a sweat and I was able to keep up with reasonable effort.Has many separate segments that you can choose from and mostly uses kickboxing for cardio while weights and other traditional exercise moves are used to get an overall body workout.Instructor manages to be high energy rather than annoying. When it comes to cardio DVD workouts, I found the Bikini Bootcamp by same instructor was the most challenging I've had thus far.Would recommend Janis Saffell Strike Zone if looking for another good kickboxing workout.

Not enough flow

I love boxing/martial arts-based workouts, and really want to like this one, but I find it feels too fragmented.

nice workout

by D. Bonner from NY on 2010-03-19
the video is sometimes strange to watch. I do not like how each movement transition happens off screen. This makes it difficult to get into the proper position, when you are starting out and do not remember what each exercise is. However, the DVD has it where it counts, a good work out. At only 20 mins a session, it's very easy to find time. And for that little amount of time, it does a very efficient job at working out your whole body, even your neck, which was entirely new to me.

Good value

by Ted from USA on 2010-02-21
This dvd includes 3 workouts; beginner, intermediate, advanced all 20 minutes. I like this set because the workouts are 20 minutes ideal when I'm limited on time. I get a good sweat out of all the workouts even the easy one. If your looking for a good workout in short time this workout is worth the price.

A Good Workout

by T'ai-chi Tom from California on 2010-02-20
I am very impressed with this workout's simplicity, yet in-depth exercises that can leave you gasping. I am into Tai-Chi and love to mix up the mild slow movements of Tai Chi with the energetic pulse pumping Kickboxing Workout. I have been doing Tiffany/Max Chen's work out for about six weeks and people are already complimenting me on my my broader shoulders. I am flattered, but that's only one of the workout's benefits. One feels stronger and faster very quickly. The workout is divided into three workouts, each one more taxing that the previous workout. Exercises are run in 30 second increments and nothing is really technically difficult. This program -- has something to offer any level of Kick boxing, Kung Fu and really just a good aerobic workout something challenging. I highly recomend it. Tiffany and her brother Max hold more than 200 gold medals in Tai Chi and Kick boxing between them and the workouts deserve one too.

First workout DVD

by GreenJ from Seattle, Wa on 2009-12-21
This was my first workout DVD. I am getting a great workout from just the first 20 min segment and look forward to adding on the rest. I have been doing the stationary cycle and simple arm exercises for a few months before starting this and am glad I warmed up a bit. If you live in an apartment or have people living under you this video is alot of fun...Not all the moves are easy to keep quiet and what I do is either improvise a softer move based on what their doing or go really slow and try to improve coordination..So don't be disappointed if you can't do all the moves at first in your w/o area. Other than that I love the tone of the actors: intense on focus and strength but easy going and encouraging in a soft insightful way rather than barky or cheesy cheer stuff I have seen in other videos. A great choice.

Jillian Michaels, the trainer from NBC's The Biggest Loser and self-proclaimed "TV's toughest fitness guru," runs through circuit training like a drill sergeant on caffeine. Her theory is to keep moving in between exercises to burn twice as many calories, so she cycles her team through sumo squats, mountain climbers, jump ropes, shoulder raises and bicycle moves without taking a breath. If she doesn't think one of her comrades is picking up his knees high enough, she makes everyone do 30 more, with a sadistic grin. As a result, you can almost literally watch the muscle burn. Kim Product Description "I am glad you decided to make this commitment to change. Here's what we are doing today. We'll be working on the front of your body - for example your chest, shoulders, triceps and quads. The reason we are working these muscles together is two fold...first of all, these chest, shoulders trcips muscles are push muscles. They have the same function. So, it's good to work them out on the same day. The reason we're working our quadriceps in with our upper body is so that we're working our lower body and upper body - back to back. What this does is basically shunts your blood between your upper and lower body throughout the course of our workout - allowing you to burn twice as many calories. The key here is burning calories, melting off the fat and losing weight. So we keep it aerobic the entire time. Never stop moving, let's get started...." Jillian Michaels

a title that corresponds to the content!

by El Super Guapo from on 2010-01-28
I can't say I own all the books on stand up fighting, but I have a few. since this is about kickboxing (the ring sport), I can say it's full of tips, drills, and insights. it's like having an experienced coach, I guess. most other books I have on the subject merley describe the tools, but there's usually very few elements on strategy, mindset etc.well this book is full of it! ( I mean strategy and mindset stuff, and they're excellent.)either you train in a similar sport or you want to be an enlightened spectator, this book is the most interesting I found.

Most comprehensive book on stand-up fighting I've ever read.

by E. Yockey from Arizona on 2008-10-03
This is the most comprehensive stand-up fighting book I've read. The authors are not only incredibly knowledgeable but they are articulate--breaking down the moves to their most basic and understandable forms. My background is ground-fighting, so that ability to break things down in a way that even a thick headed guy like me can understand it is incredibly valuable to those of us who are looking to expand our fight game. Even if you have an extensive stand-up background, I think that you would find this book valuable because of all the information it gives on competing and on the world of pro-fighting. This is just one guy's opinion, but if you are looking to compete either in MMA, kick-boxing or some other kind of stand-up fighting I'd say you definitely need to read this book and keep it as a ready reference in your tool box.

As said before me this book lives up to its title. It is very complete, the author talks extensivly not only on every aspect of kickboxing I've ever heard of, but also of many I haven't. The book is easy to understand and the author has a unique style of writing and organization that keeps you interested. This is one of the best martial art books I've ever owned.

Great workout annoying girl!

by Patricia Ciffone from on 2010-07-08
This is a great workout for your whole body. I have been doing kickboxing for years and I really worked up a sweat! There is a really annoying lady in this video. She looks like she is on crack and jumping all over the place. She really does put a damper on this entire video. Watching her exercise while doing the workout is really annoying. I think the video would have been a 10 without her in it. She stand to the left of Sharon and wears a striped shirt and has on blue pants. I find her very distracting in a bad way! If you can get past her in the video then you are good to go!!

Really good workout

I was quite pleasantly surprised by this workout. It kept my interest (so many exercise DVDs bore me) and was challenging enough without being frustrating. It also made me work up a really good sweat. When I read on the cover that Sharon is a national aerobics champion (I presume in Canada) I was expecting a really cheesy annoying instructor but she's quite good -- motivating without getting on your nerves.Highly recommended.

Could be much better

by Fitness maven from Illinois on 2010-03-08
I'd give this workout 3 1/2 stars.I've been working out with kickboxing/boxing DVD's for many years, and consider myself an advanced fitness kickboxer. I usually have no problems following KB workouts---even the first time through--if the cuing is good. While I really like Kelly's personality (in this and other workouts), and like the choreography in this workout and the fact that her modifier doesn't dumb things down, I find her cuing (or lack of) very annoying. She uses the cue "punch" for both "any type of punch" (jab, cross, hook or upper cut) as well as for a cross, and rarely talks through the sequence of moves (a simple "jab-hook-up-hook" repeated during the first two or three times we do the move would be SO helpful. Instead, she cues it once, then usually uses very unhelpful 'cues' like "ha!" or some other vocalization that is meant to motivate, but can prove frustrating.Luckily, the moves aren't too hard to pick up.

Should be named "20-minutes to Fitness"

by H. Miller from WI USA on 2010-01-30
I got this because I'm constantly on the look-out for 30-minute, high intensity cardio workouts. I know kickboxing is a great workout, so I was really excited when I found this DVD.I was a little disappointed, though. The intensity wasn't that high for me, but for a beginner it might be just fine. The sequences were tricky to follow, but I only tried the combination upper/lower body workout once, and being the fitness DVD junkie I am, I know with a little practice I'd get the moves down. Also, it says 30-minutes, but the combo workout I choose turned out to be only 20-25 minutes, so I was let down on that front, too.To make it a better workout for me, I'd add in 1 mintue of jumping jacks, jump rope, high knees or butt kicks in between each sequence (just pause the DVD), then my heart rate would get up higher AND the workout would last 30 mintues.I gave it four stars because I still think it's a good workout for beginners, and more advanced exercisers can modify it to their level with the suggestions I offered, but it just wasn't what I was expecting.

My new favorite workout

by J. Lonergan from Lafayette, CA on 2010-01-10
I really like this video because it is good at getting my heart rate up and breaking a little sweat. It's short enough that I can fit it into my busy schedule. The instructor has a great attitude that isn't cheesy. Just when I think it's getting too serious, she smiles and it makes me smile. So I feel better as I'm working out.

Great Workout

by Comfy Girl from Oregon on 2009-12-30
What I love about this workout is that you get a full body workout in 30 minutes. I have found on other kickbox dvd's if they have premix workouts it's usually punches or kicks so you only get a lower or upper body workout. I needed a few shorter cardio workouts as I do my cardio then my weight lifting every morning and I don't always have time for 45 - 50 minutes of cardio. If you're looking for decent 30 minute workout (or combined 60 min workout) and enjoy kickboxing than this dvd is for you.I have a few of Kelley's other dvd's and I'm enjoying them. I usually workout out to Cathe Friedrich and most recently Turbo Jam, Amy Bento, so Kelley was a great instructor to add to my mix.

Just Right!!

by D. Johnson from Houston, TX on 2009-05-21
Just tried this video out and it's great!! Not too hard, steps are over all easy to pick up on, love that there is picture in picture of the next steps up to come so you can see them before you start, total body work out, I was dripping sweat but didn't feel like I was dying and I would say I'm not out of shape but not in shape either. There was only one routine I had a hard time picking up on but this was my first time doing it today. There are 2 30 min workouts and a core/ab routine to (Haven't tried that yet), and you can customize it to play the warm up, work out and ab routine together for a 45 min workout or all separate. I highly recommend this DVD if you're wanting a kickboxing, cardio type workout. No equipment needed, which is a bonus!

Advertised as intermediate/advanced, I would say this is more intermediate, maybe on the lower side. I'm not in the best shape, but this was really easy and I didn't break a sweat. Maybe it was just too short - video is about 25 mins actual running time. Plus side - can be done in small spaces and can be an easy wake-up routine that wont disgruntle you too much in the AM.

Great Workout

by Sidfirst from on 2010-07-20
I have been doing kickboxing for years and wanted to have a workout option for home when I couldn't get to the gym for a class or they didn't offer a class at a convenient time. I have been purchasing fitness videos for two decades now, and Kelly's DVD's are one of the best. This DVD is great for those that are familiar with kickboxing. If you are new, you are able to stop and rewind the DVD to master the combinations. It may take a few times to master some of the combinations, but well worth it, so don't give up. Again, as with the other two DVD's that I purchased from Kelly (muscle definition and weights), the DVD allows you to tailor your workout to your needs and time. It also shows someone doing a modified version of some of the moves if you are a beginner. I highly recommend this DVD to both seasoned kickboxers and beginners. You won't be disappointed!

Great Instructor!

by Wanda Embar from Wisconsin USA on 2010-03-10
Kickboxing is my favorite type of exercise and I own a lot of kickboxing tapes. This tape is definitely among my favorites. Kelly is a great instructor. It's clear that she enjoys the exercises herself. She doesn't talk too much (which has annoyed me with some other tapes) and she isn't overly excited (like Denise Austin for instance). Her attitude is fitting with kickboxing, which I like. I love the exercises. They are fun, fast and make the time go by before you know it. They are a bit rough to follow the first few times, but a bit of rewinding and sticking with it makes them easy to follow in no time. The exercises aren't too advanced and also not too easy. Kind of right in between, where I like them to be. She uses optional weighted gloves, which I also started using. They add just that little bit of extra intensity.

Fun Workout!

by Comfy Girl from Oregon on 2010-03-08
Love this workout! Kelly gives you a thorough workout in 30 minutes. Plus she offers various premixes for a variety of workouts. What I really enjoy is that her workouts equally work the upper and lower body and in 30 minutes!I've been looking for some 30 minute workouts so I can get a workout in when I get home from work. I have all of Kelly's 30 minute series dvd's and they are all fabulous.
