Characters and environments are rendered in stylized 3D, while the game is played in the classic Street Fighter 2D perspective with additional 3D camera flourishes. Street Fighter IV brings the legendary fighting series back to its roots by taking the beloved fighting moves and techniques of the original Street Fighter II, and infusing them with Capcom's latest advancements in next generation technology. The result is a truly extraordinary experience destined to reintroduce players, both familiar with the Street Fighter series and those coming to the game for the first time, to the time-honored art of virtual martial arts. The old rivalries continue. View larger. Plenty of bosses to battle. View larger. New faces to reckon with. View larger. New Ultra Combo angles. View larger. What Was Old is New Again Knowing a good thing when they see it, Capcom has gone to great lengths to ensure that everything that made the legendary Street Fighter II a hit in the arcades, living rooms and dormitories across the globe all those years ago has been brought back in Street Fighter IV, and this naturally starts with the characters. Fans of the franchise, as well as the fighting genre in general, will be happy to know that whether you prefer to stick with the superior abilities of top tier characters or explore the ins and outs of mid to lower level combatants, when it comes time to pick your fighter there is a wide array of choices. Also, not only will players be able to play as and against their favorite classic characters, such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, Zangief, Blanka, Sagat, etc., they will also be able to take on new characters. Just a few of these include: Abel This young French amnesiac comes from a mixed martial arts and mercenary background and is dedicated to chasing down the remnants of Shadaloo. Crimson Viper This tough and beautiful agent assumes a businesslike demeanor, ignoring all emotion and obligation to her fellow man. She wears a high-tech suit filled with deadly gadgetry.. El Fuerte This fighter divides his time between perfecting his Lucha Libre skills and his cooking abilities, yet surprisingly his indomitable spirit is a match for even the legendary Red Cyclone. RufusThis portly fighter has declared himself America's greatest fighter and uses his own brand of Kung Fu in his decidedly one-sided rivalry with Ken for top dog in the States. In addition, characters and environments are rendered in stylized 3D, while the game is played in the classic Street Fighter 2D perspective with additional 3D camera flourishes. Six-button controls for the game return, with a host of new special moves and features integrated into the gameplay system. Street Fighter IV brings a brand new fighting game to fans the world over. Key Game Features: 3D environments and characters. Traditional "2D" Street Fighter six-button gameplay. Classic Street Fighter characters re-imagined for a new generation of gamers, including the original cast of Street Fighter II. New brawlers: female super-spy Crimson Viper, lucha libre wrestler El Fuerte, mixed martial artist Abel and more. New special moves that go beyond any Street Fighter fan's wildest imagination, including Focus Attacks, Super Combos, and the revenge-fueled Ultra Combo system. Amazing locations never seen before in a Street Fighter game. New gameplay elements provide challenges for both newcomers as well as the most seasoned Street Fighter pro. New Combat Features: Focus Attacks and Ultra Combos Although Street Fighter IV is designed to draw heavily from past game features in its franchise history, it does offer some stunning new gameplay options. The first of these are Focus Attacks. These moves allow players to absorb the energy from an attack and quickly counter with their own. Used properly, Focus Attacks allow for tremendous flexibility during combat and are the end result of efforts by the game's development team to evolve combat away from the rigid memorization of set combination patterns, giving players the freedom to be creative against opponents. The other new combat feature are new powered up moves called Ultra Combos. Like standard combos their purpose is to unleash maximum damage on an opponent, but unlike the combos of old, when performed correctly these long strings of punches, kicks and moves result in changes to the in-game camera angle and quick cinematics which illustrate the strength of your skills like never before. Taken together, these two new features herald Street Fighter IV as the new king of the fighter genre and a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

Everybody was SF IV fighting...

by Robert D. Rush Jr. from Pennsyltucky on 2010-08-27
Tacky tag line but, had to be done. Cliche 101.Hands down Street Fighter all the way in the new sense. Being broke in on SF II old school style in the arcades pretty much established a lofty set of goals, that to this day, everyone is still searching for in this title. I think the essence of what Street Fighter is is present like a ghost haunting your home and surfaces from time to time but, is still hard to finger out consistently. The game itself, without comparison to the arcade days of old SF II, is extremely playable on all the platforms for which it was released. I have it for the P.C. and was quite impressed that a fighter style game could port to a computational platform this well. The game is breath taking graphically in allot of ways and has re-playability on many levels that a game in this genre really doesn't have to support like so many others. This installment of the SF platformer holds true with the SF mainstream and has found wide acceptance by the SF community where allot of the previous installments fell slightly short of order. This game is still quite playable and enjoyable for any die hard P.C. gamer purists and anyone whom wishes to play SF but, doesn't want to shell out the bucks for Super Street Fighter IV yet.The P.C. version of SF IV works out of the box with an XBox 360 control pad plugged into your system via the USB port. Capcom really planned and executed the P.C. port with great intelligence and professionalism. You really cannot tell that you are playing SF on a P.C. This title really kind of sets a standard for platform management regarding game translations between systems. It is that well done.Enjoy!

greatest fighter ever!

by hypsarrhythmia from on 2010-08-24
I have been playing street fighter IV since it came out well over a year ago and I'm still enjoying this game. You can certainly argue that buying the upgraded SUPER street fighter IV is the way to go, but for $16 you still can't go wrong with the original. I grew up playing street fighter II casually in the 90s and hadn't touched a fighting game since then. I immediately fell back in love with fighting games when I picked up street fighter IV. The graphics are beautiful and are the fully realized vision of the original street fighter characters that just wasn't possible in the early 90s. The controls are fantastic (although a joystick would be nice, but I'm too cheap to spring for it) and I love playing people all over the world with the on-line mode. The connection quality is usually quite good, but I should mention that the "strength of connection" bar they give you doesn't always predict which fights will have lag and which won't.Overall the best fighter I have a ever played and almost 2 years later I am still picking up new characters and learning nuances of the characters I have been playing up until now. The quality of competition on-line has gone noticeably down since super street fighter IV came out, but I really don't care because I just like to play and at some point playing hard-core players gets really tiring too. However, I do have to admit that playing players better than myself has forced me to improve my game considerably, overall increasing the fun of the game.$16 for this game may be the best video game deal out there right now. If you still haven't picked this up, the time is now!

Great Game - Thanks

Great game - good mix of action and graphics - even for an old school SF2 player. Havent played a Street fighter series game since the Sega Genesis and think this one maybe the best one yet.

Shoryuken means business!

by Adorina L. Reyes from Quezon City, Philippines on 2010-08-18
A heavyweight! A sure winner! 5 out of 5 stars it will leave you stunned and wanting for more... *The Best!* This takes Martial Arts to a real Fine Art!Street fighter IV, the jam packed arcade fighting handsome game title from Capcom is mean! It's both a gorgeous display of muscle-bound animation and seriously fun gameplay. *I just love the muscles!* This ultimately translates to goodness when you see it come to life (even when simply setting up a battle of CPU vs. CPU; if you simply want to be introduced to the characters' various fighting techniques ie, plain tired or if you are a complete newbie).Of course playing with your choice character and there are 16 pre-given ones, whether against a CPU opponent or an actual player (beside you or via network) is the "heart of the game". It's an understated value that you can set the difficulty level to "Easiest" when you have no clue what this title is all about and you bought it solely for its gorgeous anime appeal! Enough said. Anyone who's curious to find out what the hullabaloo about playing on a console is should have this title! (Capcom, how much you giving me for this?)I've probably seen this game before but when I see it now, I can't believe how utterly perfect it has evolved to be! So vibrant in both rendering and actual gameplay...you'd swear something Japanese like "Shoryuken!...and the world is fine.) So is hand-to-hand combat! Perfect! My PSN ID: adorinar. Come play!

Great

The game is great. The deliver was in time and the disc came with no problems, no complains. Thanks to Amazon and Hitgaming.
