Self Defense System

The need for self-Defense Products
Protecting yourself is one of life's basic instincts of survival. When you feel the danger your body goes into high stress mode to alert you. Being able to defend themselves from harmful situations is essential. Do not be caught without self-defense products.
Use of Self-Defense Products
Stay away from danger. Stay away from areas known to be hazardous. It is just good common sense. Be careful anytime you are alone in public, however. Take precautions at home to make sure no one gets in guest. That said, if you are in danger, you should be able to protect himself in a moments notice. Assuming you're not a master of karate or the like, should carry the same right of defense products.
Using self-defense products with little or no training. The idea is to temporarily stun a person can escape potentially harmful. This will allow sufficient time for help. It immobilizes the person he or she does not escape and have the opportunity to hurt someone. The materials for the defense are a great alternative to carry a loaded gun, knife or other weapon that could cause permanent damage or even death.
Do not use lethal weapons for personal security
Protect yourself and your family is your right. If it appears to be at risk of being injured or kidnapped, someone threatens you if you do not give money or a stranger enters the house, you have the right use nonlethal weapons for protection.
Personal safety is also a problem when it comes to being attacked by dogs or wild animals. Whether you're trying people or pets, pepper spray, these weapons, stun guns and batons are effective means to protect themselves without causing undue harm.
Types of Self-Defense Products Available
1. Pepper Spray
2. Stun gun
3. Lasers
4. Porras
Each of these products self-defense comes in a wide variety of packaging. Aside from knowing how to use self-defense product of your choice, it is important to keep with you at all times. It is impossible to know when you'll be in a dangerous situation and require the use of a product self-defense to save his life.
There are a variety of self-defense product that adapts to almost any situation and need. Men, for example, may prefer to use a cell phone stun gun or pepper spray pager. Women by contrast, prefer to carry a pepper spray pen or lipstick case, a book of pepper spray or ring stone to prevent people from harmful dead in their tracks.
What each of these products have in common is that they are easy to use, easy to get and stop a dangerous person hurts you without cause any permanent damage. This is especially important because there is always the risk that an attacker could overpower you, you take the weapon and use it against him. When using a product of self-defense, will not experience long-term damage if the situation gets turned around.
Be prepared for the unexpected
Carrying one of the latest models of certain defense products allows you to have the discretion to protect themselves. Keeping a nonlethal weapon gives you a sense of security when in public. Do not let fear of the unknown and unexpected control of your life. Buying a personal defense weapon and be prepared to use if necessary.
What is the best way to teach self-defense techniques?
Serious martial arts students and instructors only please. In a system that has about 100 self-defense techniques for black belt, is it better to teach many different techniques were similar grasps (ie, arm, locking bar of the wrist and shoulder lock annexation of the wrist) or teach a defense against every type of grasp (grasping the wrist, ie, shoulder grabs, choke)? I want my students to get a well rounded system. I done both, but I'm trying to figure out what works best for most.
In my experience with teaching and being taught to always start with the techniques that are easier to learn, for example, can teach defense against a regular beat and maybe a choke first, then if the class seems to return this concept quite easily that they also could teach the arm bar in the same class. Thus, in a class that would teach a few simple techniques and a difficult technique. This is a solid rule because, regardless of experience or your students are difficult, and regardless of the speed with which learn they are in their class to learn all 100 + moves in self defense. This includes the easiest, so that teaching based on their skill level not very effective because then moves alone do not know towards the end of their training is the easy, and at that point will be very frustrating to go back. Other why not move easily are taught in self-defense is first because the movements are often built on advanced movements easier: for example that are taught to punch and block before they are taught to block, catch, lock, and break at once. So honestly does not matter if any of the moves are related or not: take paper and write on one page all the moves (even the simplest like a punch) states that you can think, then write on another page in order of difficulty to learn / apply with 1 being the easiest. If some movement is just as easy / hard in your mind just put in order of importance for self defense. This is a great teaching tool, because you can write to the numbered list and give it to her students as a guide to learning: it lets them know where they are at in the progression of his belt and gives them something to look forward. Happy Training!
In Defense of Self: How the Immune System Really Works Sale Price: $17.95 Eligible for free shipping! Availability: Usually ships in 24 hours Average Rating:
DescriptionWe live in a sea of seething microbial predators, an infinity of invisible and invasive microorganisms capable of setting up shop inside us and sending us to an early grave. The only thing keeping them out? The immune system. William Clark's In Defense of Self offers a refreshingly accessible tour of the immune system, putting in layman's terms essential information that has been for too long the exclusive province of trained specialists. Clark explains how the immune system works by using powerful genetic, chemical, and cellular weapons to protect us from the vast majority of disease-causing microbes-bacteria, viruses, molds, and parasites. Only those microbes our bodies need to help us digest food and process vitamins are admitted. But this same system can endanger us by rejecting potentially life-saving organ transplants, or by overreacting and turning too much force against foreign invaders, causing serious--occasionally lethal--collateral damage to our tissues and resulting in autoimmune disease. In Defense of Self covers everything from how antibodies work and the strategies the body uses to distinguish self from not self to the nature of immunological memory, the latest approaches to vaccination, and how the immune system will react should we ever be subjected to a bioterrorist attack. Clark also offers important insights on the vital role that the immune system plays in cancer, AIDS, autoimmunity, rheumatoid arthritis, allergies and asthma, and other diseases. Of special interest to all those suffering from diseases related to the immune system, as well as their families, In Defense of Self lucidly explains a system none of us could live without. ReviewsAchieves its goals in spades by kerrjac from on 2010-04-10 It's challenging to find a good science book for the general public. Too many authors go out of their way to sensationalize science, to apply it to your personal life, or to use it in support of their opinions about other matters. In Defense of Self is that rare layman's book which is not afraid to simply delve into science for science's sake. It is written in the sentiment of Stephen Hawking - that advances are only meaningful when they become public knowledge. The book succeeds both in discussing the basic principles of the immune system, and then how these principles play out in myriad diseases and conditions. William Clark introduces and defines medical terms, but he is smart not to get bogged down in them - the book is aimed at understanding, not jargon. At the same time, he intertwines a bit of medical science's history, hitting on key scientists and experiments. The latter is not only intriguing, but it gives the field a human feel. Unlike textbooks, which present facts as if they were immutable, he lays out the field's stumbling blocks, controversies, advances, and mysteries all as ongoing works in progress. He writes in a passionate and enthusiastic tone. And he has an uncanny ability to succinctly express the field's development. The main drawback to the book - as another reviewer mentioned - is its organization. The first two-thirds are strong, but by the end many of the chapters feel isolated and unconnected to the rest of the book. To a degree, this is a reflection of science, as modern research always seems narrower than past advances. But still it would have been nice to see principles or themes tied together more.In the end, however, Clark achieves his goals in spades. After reading this book, I was both satiated and hungry to learn more. Don't pick up this book if you're looking for a medical cure or if you have a chip on your shoulder. Do pick it up if you're insanely curious about things and have always wanted to learn about the immune system.
Excellent introduction for the general reader by Irfan A. Alvi from Towson, MD USA on 2009-04-24 This book serves as an excellent introduction to immunology for the general reader. The level of detail is introductory but not trivial, and immunology is inherently a challenging subject, so readers should expect to pay attention and concentrate. This book isn't casual reading, and some general science background would be a big help.At the same time, the level of detail is much less than a book intended for health care professionals or students, so people in that category will need to go beyond this book, although they may still find this book to be a nice and comparatively gentle introduction. The same applies to general readers who are researching particular immunological disorders; for example, this book really only scratches the surface when it comes to things like allergies, autoimmune diseases, and cancer immunotherapy.Another effect of this book being intended for a general audience is that the presentation of information isn't quite as systematic as found in more advanced books, and I think that's a drawback for a subject as complex as this. But I do understand that books targeted at a general audience need to cater to the stylistic expectations of that audience if they're going to sell any copies ...Overall though, I'll reiterate that this book is an excellent introduction to immunology, so I recommend it to readers looking for such a book, and who understand its limitations.
Challenging AND Enlightening by D. S. Heersink from San Francisco on 2009-03-11 The human immune system is -- literally -- a four-year college course. This splendid highlight of the principles of our immune system is a challenging read for the non-scientist, but informative and enlightening every page of the way. Scientists may find the overview a helpful overview, and neophytes may find the subject difficult at times, but we owe science -- and AIDS -- a depth of gratitude that helps explain how the "see-saw" of microbe and host fight each other to the death -- again, literally.
A Tremendous Book by CGD Dad from USA on 2008-03-17 My last biology class was in 9th grade and thus my understanding of cells, the blood system and the immune system in general has been very cursory. To be perfectly honest I've never been interested in biology at all but my son's condition (has chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) and is currently at day +4 in a bone marrow transplant) has caused me to revisit this topic. Unfortunately I've been confounded in finding a good overview of the immune system that is both intelligible to a lay person but which gets at the fundamental mechanisms. This book was nothing short of a revelation to me; particularly the first four chapters and the paragraph on CGD. I now feel like I actually understand how and why CGD affected him in the way it did and what is happening with his donor marrow. This has allowed me to formulate questions that adequately convey my specific concerns and to better understand the responses and the daily results of his CBC counts. I strongly recommend this book to anyone wanting (or needing) to understand how the immune system works.

Great information for people interested in Krav Maga by Bonk1999 from on 2010-08-17 I purchased this set a couple weeks ago and love it. I am LE and have attended seminars and training from many Krav Maga instructors and the information in this DVD is great for those interested in learning and advancing in KM. Having trained in several martial arts forms over the past 20+ years, I think KM is the best self defense system for law enforcement and military applications, but also the most realistic for every day defensive situations. My wife loves the DVD's because it focuses on real world scenarios that she has encountered and the defenses against those threats. These DVD's are especially great for women who want an extra level of protection and will help them gain self confidence that they would not necessarily get in other martial arts systems. The DVD's are professionally done and follow the type of training that I have received from KM instructors over the years; the situation leading to attack, example of the attack, defense against the attack, and several angles of those defenses including repetition and slow motion of the defensive techniques. There is also a lot of instruction on the proper punching and kicking techniques which is a necessity for the novice and a great refresher for the intermediate level student. I also enjoyed seeing multiple KM instructors illustrate their defensive techniques for different attacks. And it's a bonus that some of the instructors are from Israel and have taught and applied KM for years where it is used on a daily basis. So you get the kind of real world expertise that you don't otherwise get from instructors in the U.S.I hope there are follow-up DVD's on advanced techniques and techniques geared toward law enforcement and military situations that would augment the training I have received in the past. All in all a very good set of instruction that will no doubt whet peoples appetites to get them interested in receiving formal training from qualified KM instructors.
Half Baked by Bob of CNY from Central NY on 2010-08-02 Just received the videos last week and figured they would be a good companion to the Krav Maga (Complete 5-DVD Set)by the Krav Maga Federation Head Instructor Eyal Yanilov US Chief Instructor Darren Levine. I was really looking forward to the DVDs based on the information on them and the only review here.I was completely wrong. The videos had poor camera angles to show the moves and out of the 5 DVDs included, you would probably find maybe 1 DVD of material that was worth while and presented in a learning format. The instructors might be great running their own schools and presenting seminars, but they did not do well in the DVDS.I would only suggest you purchase these DVDs if you have attended one of their seminars or schools as a reference. They are not at the same level of instruction or tutorial as the Krav Maga set from Krav Maga Federation.
Well Worth the Price and Loaded With Lots of Information by Shawn Kovacich from The Greatest Little City in the World on 2010-04-11 Well I guess I should start this review off from the beginning with my experiences concerning this DVD set long before I actually received it. So without further ado, let's get started...I had pre-ordered this DVD set in October of 2009 directly from the producers and was initially told that it would be available by Christmas. Christmas came and went and still I hadn't received it. I then received notification that there had been a delay in the post production work and that the release date had been changed. This happened on three separate occasions. Now I know you are wondering what this really has to do with the contents of this DVD set and believe me it does, although not directly. Finally in March of 2009 I received my copy as I had been one of the first ones to pre-order it, and let me tell you all the delays were definitely worth it, not only because of the fantastic amount of quality information that it contained, but also because of the outstanding customer service that I received throughout the entire time I pre-ordered this DVD set until I actually received it. Not only is the actual quality of the content top notch, but so is the producers of this DVD. And for that they deserve some recognition for their outstanding service, as well as, the outstanding product that they have produced. This DVD set has to be one of the best packaged multiple disc sets I have ever purchased and this includes Hollywood boxed sets of movies and TV series. I don't know how many times I have had loose discs or damaged discs in multiple disc boxed sets. You won't have that problem here! My set came with every disc well seated in their respective places and foam sheets between each disc and the next. There is absolutely no rattling of discs and the discs are in pristine condition, which is quite the accomplishment especially when shipping by our wonderful mailing system. (Okay, slight amount of sarcasm.)Now I am not going to go overboard on describing exactly what each disc contains, although I will emphatically state the following..."As the owner of numerous DVD's on Krav Maga, self-defense, and other related subjects, you would be VERY hard pressed to find a more QUALITY and CONTENT driven set of DVD's on Krav Maga or any other reality based self-defense subject anywhere at this particular time and at this price."Here is a basic overall look at what to expect on each disc and should be self-explanatory.DISC ONE (approximate running time 81 minutes)This disc is instructed by Duncan Robert Pattle and is entitled; "Your First Defense: Awareness, Movement, Common Objects & Combatives Training."DISC TWO (approximate running time 86 minutes)This disc is also includes guest instructor John Whitman and is entitled; "Your Natural Response to Danger: Defenses Against Holds and Grabs."DISC THREE (approximate running time 112 minutes)This disc is instructed by Duncan Robert Pattle and guest instructor Amnon Darsa and is entitled; "On the Street You Can't Tap Out: Surviving Street Fights Standing and On the Ground."DISC FOUR (approximate running time 76 minutes)This disc is also includes guest instructor Eyal Yanilov and is entitled; "Surviving Deadly Weapons: Defenses Against Handguns, Long Guns, Knives & Clubbing Weapons."DISC FIVE (approximate running time 17 minutes)This disc is also includes guest instructors Vladislav Shut and Ian A. Novotny and is entitled; "Injury Prevention: Dynamic and Static Stretching."This set also includes some special features including; Hostage Gun/Knife techniques, aggression drills and/or pressure drills, and two interviews about Krav Maga founder Imi Lichtenfeld by Eyal Yanilov and John Whitman.I can not recommend this DVD set highly enough and would strongly encourage anyone interested in Krav Maga or any other form of self-defense and/or martial art to purchase it immediately and study it continuously in order to get out of it everything that it has to offer, which is quite a considerable amount of quality information. Here are a few other Krav Maga items that I also highly recommend.Krav Maga: How to Defend Yourself Against Armed AssaultKrav Maga - Use of the Human Body as a Weapon Philosophy and Application of Hand to Hand Fighting Training SystemKrav Maga: A Complete Guide for Fitness and Self-defenceAdvanced Krav Maga: The Next Level of Fitness and Self-DefenseShawn Kovacich

ReviewsA Little Piece of Mind- Recommended by CFH from Blue Ridge Summit, PA USA on 2010-04-12 We bought this SABRE Pepper Spray (the Black model) for my daughter to carry with her when traveling to and from college, which is 6 hours in each direction. We know that SABRE is one of the main manufactures of Pepper Spray so felt comfortable with the brand. Here are my observations:Likes -
+ Main Unit is perfect sized for the hand
+ BeltStrap Clip is well designed so it is not likely to snag
+ Quick Release Key Ring works as expected and allows for detaching the Pepper Spray when neededDislikes -
- While the activation plunger must be twisted to use, I am not positive that it can't be positioned by accident
- Has limited shelf life, mine "expires" in March 2014 (4 years out)My daughter says she feels better having it, but we still stress the importance of avoiding situations where it could be needed. This is a conveniently sized canister that has bought us a little piece of mind.RecommendedCFH
I feel very safe carrying this around with me at night! by Cynthia Farr-weinfeld from Portland, ME on 2010-04-02 I am so happy I purchased this pepper spray for evening photo shoots. I feel much safer at night, carrying it with me, although thankfully I have not had any opportunity to use it. I hope I never have to test it out, but I have no doubt that if I do, it will be very easy to whip out, flip the little switch and depress the spray trigger.

Mr. Sherman has brought this type of combat back to Kenpo so he and Mr. Speakman could create Kenpo answers to defending against an opponent with these skills in the street. It is modifying the existing 4.0 system while remaining completely within the combat models and thinking of American Kenpo to address this increasing and prevalent void in the Kenpo world. By keeping within these models of Kenpo we have been able to develop a system combining the best of these two worlds to give our students the maximum ability to deal with the very real possibilities of becoming involved in these kinds of altercations. In addition it allows us to continue to develop ourselves within the mind-body-spirit paradigm of a true martial spirit to reach a higher level of individual performance and sustained excellence and therefore strengthening the group as a whole. Features- 10 DVDs of Kenpo 5.0 Karate
