In the State of Texas, a murder charge is a first degree felony punishable by 5-99 years in prison. There are many different defenses available jury trial on a charge of murder, including self-defense.
When one thinks of the self, the stereotypical barroom brawl comes to mind, in which the alleged victim, call him Bubba, the first attacks on the defendant, we will call him Hank, and there is a struggle that ultimately leads Bubba's death.
The fact scenario may go something like this:
Bubba grabs a chair in the bar and hits on the head of Hank, Hank, and then grabs pocket knife and ends up "cutting" Bubba with a single hit in an unlikely place, which Bubba to sustain fatal internal injury.
Many Sometimes in this type of scenario, Hank is accused of murder, even though that seemed to be just a case of mutual combatants. At trial, Hank would have an argument very viable self-defense.
self-defense can be described as the right to defend themselves with lethal force as well. In other words, if the alleged victim, first deadly force is used, the defendant is entitled to defend in the same way.
The issue at trial often comes down to whether the victim, in fact, use lethal force to justify the defendant's use of lethal force. Obviously, if the alleged victim only used his fists and the defendant took out a gun and shot him the alleged victim, then that would be a good defense argument, unless the alleged victim was a boxer and was much larger and stronger than the defendant.
There are many different types of defense in Texas, including the defense of another person by the use of deadly force. It is very important for someone accused of murder to hire a competent criminal defense attorney well versed in the law of homicide, and many possible defenses available.
ULTIMATE WEAPON FIGHTING: Belt VS Knife/Stick - KICK ARSE MOVES!!!
The KA-BAR Fighting/Utility Knife is the most widely recognized and popular combat knife ever to be produced in the United States. Since its introduction on 23 November 1942, the KA-BAR has performed brilliantly on the battlefields of Europe, the South Pacific, Korea, Southeast Asia, Central America and the Middle East, earning its moniker as the "ultimate fighting knife." Early in 1995 the KA-BAR company decided to update the venerable combat veteran to ensure its combat readiness for the next century and immediately began assembling a team of the top military combat men in the country. On this team was the author, Greg Walker. In this book Walker gives readers an inside view of the exacting design criteria, cutting-edge materials, extensive factory tests and exhaustive real-life field tests that went into the historic redesign of the blade, handguard, handle, pommel and sheath of the ultimate fighting knife of the future. The new fighting knife excelled at these rigorous tests, earning the right to be called a KA-BAR.

A good basic guide to the combat Ka-Bar knife. by Joseph J. Truncale from Chicago, Il on 2009-08-24 If you are a collector of military combat knives, specifically the famous Ka-Bar knife, you may want to read this book. To those too young or unaware of the history of this knife, this text offers a clear and concise chapter on the original Ka-bar knife. This knife was first introduced to the military November 23rd, 1942. This fighting/utility knife quickly became the most popular and recognized combat knife ever made in the U.S. It proved itself in World War 11 and every other combat conflict we have had since that time. Many knife experts regard the Ka-Bar as the "ultimate fighting knife." This fully illustrated 81/2 by 12 80 page book is the result of gathering numerous experts on combat knives. The goal was to produce a new generation of Ka-Bar knives. This book will appeal to anyone who is interested in the process of making a quality knife. Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Knife Handling & Knife Defense for Police Officers official manual, Tanto-Jutsu Manual, Wakizashi-Jutsu Manual, Yawara Stick Techniques, PR-24 Police Baton Advanced Techniques, Martial Art Myths, Never Trust a Politician).
Interesting book by B. Bain from Houston, TX on 2008-09-23 This is an interesting book about how the KA-BAR: Next Gen came about. I would have liked some real life stories from the Marines, Navy, etc. used the original during WWII or other conflicts. There is a letter from KABAR with the testing statics on the new knife that didn't mean anything to me. Overall, an easy, quick read about knife development.
Three stars because it could have had more about the original Ka-bar.
Self Promotion at its finest by Charlie LURP from on 2008-04-20 Once more Walker spends an entire book trying to promote himself even when the facts don't support it. In this case the original design was created by well known knife writer Chuck Karwan.
Kabar The next Generation by Robin C. Bassett Jr. from Flagstaff, AZ. on 2007-03-11 Overall a pretty good modern view of the Kabar fighting knife. I was hoping for some post history on the Type 2 Kabar for collecting.
A fair amount of padding; it could have been better by JJ Schwartz from Arlington, Virginia United States on 2004-06-27 Frankly, I read this fairly quickly; it isn't difficult reading. It also reads quickly if you skim over the fairly large chunks of biography, the promotion of past publications, the guys in special ops that Mr. Walker knows and the whose who in knife and sheath making. (I have to wonder about how the taxpayer's money is spent when seemingly at government expense Mr. Walker, while TDY as a reservist to Panama, carries out some of his knife testing in Limon Bay to encounter Gruber fish "with only spear guns." But, hey, if Uncle Sam can spend gazillions of bucks on roads that go to nowhere...) Anyhow, lots of big pics of Ka-Bars courtesy of Ka-Bar. It would have been nice having fewer of those (they get a tad repetitive) and more of the testing of the Ka-Bar, which is what the book is supposed to be about. Lots of letters from Ka-Bar and the Ka-Bar project consultant which, I guess, is ok but adds up to a certain amount of additional padding. The appendix is the "original brochure" which is nice (more padding). I suppose that the original brochure didn't feature complete detail drawings but that would have been nice. Included ad drawings with numbered parts cry out for more detail, cross sections, miscellaneous dimensions. But I'm being overly picky. The bottom line is that the Next Generation Ka-Bar is a knife with a lot of thought given to the materials and design and I'm sure it's every bit as good and probably better than the original. Mr. Walker's book; well, it costs more from Paladin. Glad I got it through Amazon...

The Editors of Black Belt Magazine Should Be Commended For This Series of Books by Shawn Kovacich from The Greatest Little City in the World on 2008-10-31 I guess I should start off by stating that this review is based upon the format and idea for this particular series of books, and is not a singular review on each individual book in this series. Therefore, this identical review will be posted with each book. This may seem a bit odd as you are reading this, but trust me, when you get down to the next paragraph you will fully understand what I mean. The reason being for my decision to forego an individual review and focus instead on the uniqueness of the series is due to the fact that I feel my review of the series will be quite detailed and accurate for each individual book, even though I am not reviewing each individual book. Please continue reading and I am sure you will see what I mean. The unique idea presented here from the various editors at Black Belt Magazine, was to compile a select group of articles over the many years that Black Belt Magazine has been around and to put the very best of them into a book format under the unique title for which each article serves as a common thread. For example; "Black Belt Magazines: The Ultimate Guide to Striking."What the editors have done here is quite ingenious and I am very pleased to see that this body of work has been; initially conceived, agreed upon, and finally published. I am always on the lookout for new titles in this series, even though I am sure there will be some that I may not even be interested in, such as a collection of articles on say, Kung Fu. Personally I have little interest in Kung Fu, but I know there are a lot of people out there who do, and therefore, this book would be of great interest to them.Another aspect of this series that was really interesting is that by using a variety of articles from so many different authors studying some many diverse disciplines, you are exposed to a lot of information from a variety of sources. This can be very enlightening and also very frustrating at the same time. Especially when you see apparent contradictions in technique merely a few short pages away. However, this is not that big of issue if you sort things out for yourself. Are there any negative aspects of this series? Sure, but those are mainly of personal preference, such as whether or not you agree with a particular article written by the author. I have yet to find any of the books in this series where I agree with every article. Quite the opposite actually, I am usually at about a 50/50 record of agreement at the moment, but that also is a bit misleading as there have been a lot of articles where I agreed with a portion of the article and not the entire thing. So in that respect I guess I would have to amend my earlier statement and make it a 75/25 record of agreement. The one thing that you will find a bit annoying, at least I did, is the fact that all of the photographs and illustrations are much smaller than they originally were in the articles, but that is to be expected considering the smaller format of the book and the fact that the photographs in the book are in black and white, when a lot of them were larger and in color in the magazine. This shouldn't be that much of an issue for the most part, but in some instances it is an obvious distraction.I would highly recommend that you check out this series of books and then purchase those in which you feel would be the most beneficial to you and your martial arts program. It is my understanding that there will be many more of these books coming out over the next couple of years so be sure and keep your eyes peeled for them. The Ultimate Guide to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Ultimate Guide)The Ultimate Guide to Striking (martial arts) (Ultimate Guide)If you are serious about learning how to use a knife, I would recommend the following books.Knife Fighting: A Practical CourseKnives, Knife Fighting, And Related Hassles: How To Survive A Real Knife FightContemporary Knife Targeting: Modern Science Vs. For more than a century, knuckle dusters and brass knuckles have rested in the pockets of those who need a small, handy impact weapon that is easily concealed and inexpensive to produce. History of Knuckle Dusters shows the actual knuckles through their history, including wartime knuckles, modern customs and mass-produced examples. An amazing array of designs and materials has gone into knuckle dusters, and their popularity is even greater today among collectors and those who use them for protection. Often demonized and vilified by the press and law enforcement, the knuckle duster has a colorful and interesting history and deserves to take its rightful place among the great close-quarter combat weapons of the world.

Ten knuckles, two hands by Marilyn B. Glabicki from San Jose, CA USA on 2008-11-14 My husband had me order this book for him. He loved it. It must be the only book on this subject; therefore it is a definitive work. The pictures and text are superb. You don't have to read an awful lot to gain tremendous knowledge.
